Central Coast Japanese Community Language School (CCJCLS) began in 1995 as a bilingual playgroup with a few families started meeting on weekends in parks around Gosford in Central Coast. Next year, the children moved to a hired library study room of Newcastle University’s Ourimbah campus for more learning. As a result of the staff's tremendous efforts, our school has received official recognition from the Ministry of Education and “Central Coast Japanese Community Language School (CCJCLS)” was born in 1997.
For over 30 years since then, the school has continued to provide not only Japanese language education but also cultural learning opportunities to children of Japanese background in the Central Coast region. Furthermore, in 2019, we established International Class and received the "Hunter Community Language Teacher Award" from NSW Hunter Community Languages in 2022. Today, children from all over the Central Coast who are interested in the Japanese language and culture come to CCJCLS to learn about Japan in a fun and engaging environment.
